Tech4Good is a cutting-edge tech startup education program, organized by PIM as part of Huawei’s signature CSR initiative – Seeds for the Future. Role Overview
Are you passionate about shaping the next generation of changemakers and digital innovators? Purpose in Motion (PIM) is seeking a mission-driven and experienced professional to serve as a mentor for our Tech4Good program. As a Tech4Good Mentor, you will guide and support student teams in developing innovative projects aimed at addressing real-world social challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and support student teams from different countries in developing their projects, where participants will learn to think creatively about leveraging their skills and talents to create new businesses or level up existing ones.
- Join preparatory calls and onboarding sessions to familiarize oneself with the program structure, participant backgrounds, and project goals
- Update and maintain PowerPoint slides and other presentation materials (icebreakers, team-building activities, and interactive exercises) to ensure they reflect the latest program information, learning objectives, and resources.
- Facilitate sessions in-person, utilizing prepared materials and icebreakers, to foster discussions, share insights, and guide participants in their project development process.
- Answer students’ questions and provide guidance on project ideation, problem-solving, and implementation strategies.
- Help program participants be exposed to the Sustainable Development Goals and be empowered to use technology to address one of the SDGs.
- Contribute to creating and delivering program assessments for proper evaluation of program impact.
- Assist with culminating event activities and other general program requirements as needed to ensure the successful execution of the program.
New for 2025: All programs will be based in Shenzhen, creating an opportunity for committed mentors to participate in multiple program cycles and potentially take on program management responsibilities. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact for students around the globe while developing your leadership and program coordination skills.
Program Coordination (for those advancing to Program Manager role): - Coordinate logistics between multiple student teams and other mentors
- Lead mentor team meetings and ensure alignment across program delivery
- Serve as primary point of contact for program participants
- Oversee program timeline adherence and ensure milestone completion
- Identify and resolve issues that arise during program execution
- Compile program metrics and contribute to impact reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of work experience in tech/sustainability/entrepreneurship or related areas OR 2+ years of facilitation/coaching experience
- Demonstrated reliability and excellent time management skills
- Strong leadership abilities and previous team management experience
- Exceptional coordination and organizational skills
- Passionate about sustainable development and youth empowerment
- Fluent in spoken English and Mandarin
- Local residency in Shenzhen or Hong Kong with consistent availability throughout the program period (May-October)
- Ability to commit to multiple program cycles
- Professionalism and adaptability when dealing with changes
- Valid Chinese work authorization
Expected Time Commitment
This is a contract role that runs for one month with a possibility of renewal after the program completes. The mentor is also expected to stay in the designated country for eight days. Each cohort requires full-time commitment during the 6-day program, with an average of 4 hours of teaching per day in addition to preparation, communication with students, completing student evaluations, and class delivery.
Candidates interested in multiple cycles throughout the May-October season are strongly preferred. Those demonstrating exceptional performance may be invited to take on program management responsibilities for subsequent cycles.
Compensation
An honorarium and travel stipend will be provided.
