The year pim was born

PIM was founded with the goal of empowering young people with the education, resources, and networks to become mission-driven leaders and effective changemakers

The first pim program

Model Foundation was the first program in our history, developed in partnership with the University of Hong Kong. It took months of work to organize a program that engaged 21 participants and eight community impact partners.

why wait to make a difference?

Empowering a New Generation of Changemakers

Imagine a world where the spirit of giving and social innovation is not bound by age or wealth. This is the world PIM envisioned and set out to create. The idea first took root in China, amidst a backdrop where the voices of the young and aspiring are often overshadowed by traditional hierarchies of power and influence. It was here that the two founders began with a daring question: “Why wait to make a difference?” From this bold inquiry, PIM sprouted, driven by the conviction that every young individual, regardless of financial background, possesses the power to create a ripple of social impact.

This program was crafted to improve the skills of participants in making a social impact, focused on Chinaโ€™s dynamic social sector. The scholars, acting as the board of directors for the Yenching Academy’s “Millennial Foundation,” were entrusted with setting the strategic direction and allocating real funds to support local initiatives, using Beijing as their immersive canvas.

PROGRAM EXPANSION

Model Foundation continued its growth for its 3rd year, in collaboration with the Gingko Foundation and Yale Center Beijing, and including for the first time a 350 people Innovation for Impact Summit.

โ€œPIMโ€™s grant to us came at a really important time as we were starting to scale up Education In Sightโ€™s operations. The grants we received allowed us to bring a new program manager into our organization, which essentially allowed us to double our capacity. That program manager was able to train 200 new sight leaders at 200 new schools.”

Tech4Good Participant

Annual report

As we approached the second year of the pandemic, we were forced to reconsider: what does it take not just to survive but thrive in a world of uncertainty and challenges? To tackle global challenges, we need to develop fresh ideas and collaborate across borders to accelerate progress towards a more sustainable and inclusive world.

NEW PROGRAM

Tech4Good

As the official partner for โ€œSeeds for the Futureโ€, PIM designed and ran a Tech4Good program, guiding students to develop an idea that solves a social or environmental problem. Students learn how to identify and articulate an issue, strategize as a team, and reflect on how they can help their local communities with the power of tech. From April to December 2021, over 3000 students from 115 countries worked on 300+ projects to solve problems related to the UN SDGs. This culminated in a Global Competition in which the top 3 teams received prizes and mentorship worth 75,000 USD.
